About Us

Antara International is a US-based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We tackle maternal and child mortality and malnutrition by delivering public health innovations at scale

Who We Are

Antara International supports the on-ground activities of its partner organization, The Antara Foundation (TAF), a non-profit registered in India. TAF designs and delivers public health innovations that strengthen the rural health system and tackle the massive and neglected health challenge of maternal, child mortality and malnutrition in India’s most marginalized populations.

TAF partners with state governments to catalyze system-level change. TAF works in close collaboration with communities of frontline workers – the ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist), Anganwadi Worker and ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwife). TAF enables use of data and problem-solving tools among frontline health workers, improves labor room standards, upskills all frontline workers and health staff and creates village-level change agents.

Every mother and every child has an equal start to a healthy life

Core Beliefs

  • Work where the need is greatest: TAF works in the geographies and communities with the greatest need – be it rural, tribal or hard-to-access.

  • Scale and innovation in delivery: Tested well-known solutions exist, but the need is find ways to deliver quality public, primary and preventive health consistently at scale.

  • Partner actively with governments: TAF works with and through the public health system, to strengthen it. Government partnerships are critical for scale and sustainability.

  • Data-driven approach: Data is at the heart of how TAF designs interventions, monitors results, communicates with transparency and amplifies impact.

  • Look to community for answers: We believe that problem-solving begins in the field – listening and learning with humility to communities of frontline workers and beneficiaries.

  • Get dirt under our fingernails: TAF is an implementation organization. The team works at the grassroots level, learns and succeeds by getting dirt under its fingernails.
